There used to be a 4 bedroom/2bath home here with 1850sqft of living space�that was built in the twenties. It was sold in July 2009 for lot value of $ 995,000. Located at 1441 Balboa Ave in Burlingame� this is just one example of how our neighborhoods are changing. Other construction sites that I have noticed just walking around the Easton Addition in Burlingame�are located on these streets: 1100 block of Cortez Ave, 1400 block of Benito Ave, 1300 block of Columbus Ave…..I am sure there are more. If these are spec homes,�they will be�offered anywhere from $ 2,2 to $2.7 million in the very near future.

This property at 2805 Adeline Drive in Burlingame is probably the next tear down in town. Located on the corner of Alvarado and Adeline, right across from the Kohl Mansion. The house was found unsafe by the county of San Mateo a while back. Neighbors are not looking forward to a construction site, but are in agreement that anything is better than this picture. Look for the FOR SALE sign to go up soon. The lot is 100×101 as per county records.

New Construction in the Easton Addition of Burlingame

There are currently 5 new constructed homes in Burlingame for sale. Four houses are located in the Easton Addition neighborhood at: 1316 Drake Ave, 1348 Drake Ave, 1325 Cabrillo Ave and 1417 Cabrillo Ave. These are all large homes with 4 or 5 bedrooms and 4 plus bathrooms on standard 6000sqft lots. Priced between $2,199,000 – $2,328,000. Buyers who are looking in this price range and want new construction, will soon have more choices. There are several new homes being built. I know of at least four homes that I have noticed just walking my dog in the neighborhood. There is one more brand new home for sale in the Burlingame hills at 150 Newton Dr.. This is a rather large home with 5400sqft on a 17,000 sqft lot offered for $ 2,995,000.

Bay Bridge closure no problem for Burlingame homeowners to get to work in San Francisco

Waking up to the news that the Bay Bridge was closed this morning, I started thinking of the many ways one could get to San Francisco from Burlingame without crossing any bridges. Bart connects in Millbrae and if you live close to Adeline Drive, you can take the shuttle to the station and don’t need a car at all. Caltrains stops in Burlingame downtown and in Millbrae. If you need to drive and want city streets the option is to take El Camino Real north which will connect with Mission St in San Francisco. Like the more scenic route, take Skyline Blvd all the way to San Francisco. Of course it is easy to drive via Highway 101 or 280 however you might sit in traffic with all those commuters who just came over the San Mateo Bridge from the East Bay and have been on the road for hours.

Compare this with the same time last year, when we had only 9 homes on the market. 10 homes show that they have accepted an offer and are pending. Prices start at $ 999,000 priced for lot value and go up to $ 2,429,000 for a 5 bedroom house.

Burlingame residents say good bye to Tom the tree

After many months of debating this issue, the large eucalyptus tree in front of the Easton Branch Library has been removed. Burlingame residents love their trees and are proud of it’s designation as a “TREE CITY USA”. There was a lot of resistence to removing this 100-foot tree. Unfortunately the tree’s roots had lifted the pavement on Easton Drive and made driving quite dangerous especially at night. The Easton Addition neighborhood in Burlingame is a much desired area to live in. Besides the may trees and the charming recently renovated library, residents enjoy that you can walk to the Broadway or Burlingame Avenue restaurant and shopping area. Many of the school children in this neighborhood walk or bike to Franklin, Lincoln or Roosevelt Elementary School every morning. Now is a great time to purchase a home in this lovely neighborhood. 30% of all homes for sale in Burlingame are located here.
